The first 600 to be conducted in India was on this route which has remained unchanged for the most part.
The route leads out from Pune on NH4 till past Kolhapur (240 km), to turn back toward Pune. A night halt before Satara used to be arranged at Mahavir Dhaba (Akkha Masoor) which was wonderfully hospitable for the first 3-4 years but is rather run down now. We have now changed the night halt to Hotel Raj Lodging, Satara (@380 km).
Continuing to Pune, the control point is back at our CCD Chandni chowk. The route now becomes familiar ground for Pune cyclists as it goes to Lonavla and returns, a stretch of road that is used frequently for training and give riders a psychological advantage for the last @100 km!
